Art Exhibition Hall Kunsthalle “Talstrasse”

Brüderhöhle (cave)
Legendary hidden cave at the banks of the Saale River in the direction of the Kröllwitz hospital.
Tram Stop Burg Giebichenstein
Giebichenstein Castle
The oldest of the castles on the Saale River, Giebichenstein was first mentioned in the year 961. Today, part of the art department of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design is located at the premises.

Rive-Ufer
The promenade along the Saale River from the Giebichenstein castle to the Peißnitz Island, named after mayor Richard Robert Rive (1864–1947).

State Museum of Prehistory
One of the most important archaeological museums in Central Europe with over ten million finds, among others, the Nebra sky disc.

Tram Stop Moritzburgring
Moritzburg Castle with the Art Museum of the State of Saxony-Anhalt
The youngest of the castles on the Saale river is a late-Gothic castle with modern elements. In the west wing there are collections of modern and contemporary art.

Kleine Ulrichstraße and Universitätsring
In the streets of the old town you can relax in the various cafés, bars, and restaurants.
Botanical Garden
For over 300 years the Botanical Garden of the Martin Luther University has exhibited a collection of about 12,000 plants. The entrance is at Große Wallstraße.

University Square and Culture Island
The University Square forms the beautiful centre of the Martin Luther University, one of the oldest universities in Germany. The Kulturinsel (“Culture Island”) is a city block that houses the New Theatre (Neues Theater) and the puppet theatre.

Tram Stop Marktplatz
Red Tower
An 84-metre tall, free-standing bell tower built in 1506 with the largest carillon of Europe and the second-largest in the world. Together with the Market Church it forms the silhouette of the five towers, the landmark of the city.
Market Church of Our Dear Lady
This church is a three-nave hall church with late-Romanesque east towers and late-Gothic west towers. Martin Luther preached here three times. The large organ was inaugurated by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Händel House and Music Museum
The birthplace of Georg Friedrich Händel is also the music museum of Halle. The permanent exhibition “Händel – the European” is always worth a visit.

Cathedral
This cathedral without towers was constructed between 1271 and 1330 and is the oldest remaining church building in Halle. Due to the excellent acoustics the church is a favourite location for concerts and theatre plays.
