Mobility for all pupils of our city

Halles pupils get an environmentally friendly and secure ride at a good price. For €29.70 the SCHOOL Card allows to be mobile on the way to and from school, and even throughout the entire MDV network area from 2 p.m. and for the whole day at weekends and holidays.

SCHOOL Card

who? The ticket ist personalised and only for pupils attending grades 1 to 13 in primary schools, secondary schools, grammar schools and special schools in Halle (Saale).

when? The SCHOOL Card is valid 24 hours per day during a school year, that means even after school, at weekends and on public holidays and during school holidays including the summer holidays at the end of the school year.

where? The SCHOOL Card can be used in all means of transport by the transport companies affiliated with the Central German Transport Association (MDV) within fare zone 210 (Halle). Additionally the card is valid throughout the whole MDV network area Mondays to Fridays from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the following day as well as for the whole day Saturdays and Sundays and at public and school holidays.

how much? The SCHOOL Card costs €29.70 per month– that’s €0.99 per day – and is paid like a regular subscription, in monthly instalments. The minimum term is six months, entry is possible at any time.

SCHOOL Card Upgrade – the extension to the SchülerZeitKarte

The SCHOOL Card Upgrade

who? The SCHOOL Card Upgrade is personalised and only for pupils that own a free SchülerZeitKarte* of the city of Halle (Saale).

when? With the SCHOOL Card Upgrade the validity period of the SchülerZeitKarte (at school days Mondays to Fridays 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.) is matched with the validity period of the SCHOOL Card. Pupils can therefore be mobile 24 hours every day, even at weekends, public holidays and school holidays (including summer holidays at the end of the school year).

where? With the SCHOOL Card Upgrade all owners of the SchülerZeitKarte can use all means of transport by the transport companies affiliated with the Central German Transport Association (MDV) within fare zone 210 (Halle) 24 hours per day. Additionally the card can be used throughout the whole MDV network area Mondays to Fridays from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day as well as for the whole day on Saturdays and Sundays and at public and school holidays.

how much? The SCHOOL Card Upgrade is an extension to the SchülerZeitKarte and costs just €9.80 per month (from 01.08.2024: €10.00), paid like a regular subscription, in monthly instalments. The minimum term is six months, entry is possible at any time.

* The SchülerZeitKarte is valid at the school days of a school year Mondays to Fridays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in all means of transport within fare zone 210 (Halle) of the MDV and is available for free upon application at the department of education of Halle (Saale) if the way to school exceeds the following distances (according to the city’s statute on the transport of school children):

  • Preschool pupils and pupils attending grades 1 to 4 who have to travel more than 2 kilometres to get to school
  • pupils attending grades 5 to 10 who have to travel more than 3 kilometres to get to school
  • pupils attending grade 5 at special schools who have to travel more than 2.5 kilometres to get to school
  • pupils doing a pre-vocational training year (Berufsvorbereitungsjahr, BVJ) or basic vocational training year (Berufsgrundbildungsjahr, BGJ) who have to travel more than 4 kilometres to get to school
  • pupils attending schools for the mentally disabled as well as pupils attending state education centres (Landesbildungszentren) without a minimum distance

Note: Pupils attending grades 11 to 13 as well as pupils in school training are not eligible for a SchülerZeitKarte. However, these pupils can apply for a grant to cover their travelling expenses (for instance for the purchase of a SCHOOL Card) if they travel further than a specific distance to get to school.

Pupil leisure ticket (SchülerFreizeitTicket)

who? The ticket is personalised and issued as an annual pass (valid 12 months) for pupils attending schools that provide general education (public schools or state-approved private schools).

when? The Ticket is valid Mondays to Fridays from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day as well as throughout the whole day on Saturdays, Sundays and on all public holidays in the entire MDV network.

where? The SchülerFreizeitTicket is valid throughout the entire network of Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV).

how much? The ticket costs €15.00 per month. 

where? The SchülerFreizeitTicket can be purchased at our HAVAG-SERVICE-CENTRES or you can download and fill out an application form from https://havag.com/formulare (in German).

what else? Card holders are required to carry a filled out customer card or a valid pupil’s ID as proof of eligibility.

Internship Card Halle (Praktikumskarte Halle)

who? The Internship Card Halle is personalised and is valid for pupils during their internship only.

when? It is valid 24 hours per day for the specified duration of an internship.

where? The card can be used in all means of transport by the transport companies affiliated with the Central German Transport Association (MDV) within fare zone 210 (Halle).

The card is not sold freely. Pupils qualifying for the card get them from the offices of the participating schools that are under the governance of the city of Halle (Saale).

what else? A valid pupil’s ID or a valid MDV customer card has to be shown as proof of eligibility. If the card is lost it will not be replaced.

Class Card Halle (Klassenkarte Halle)

who? The Class Card Halle is for school classes of up to 28 pupils and two accompanying adults.

where? The card is only valid for school journeys in all means of transport by the transport companies affiliated with the Central German Transport Association (MDV) within fare zone 210 (Halle).

where? The ticket is not sold freely. Class teachers get it in the office of participating schools that are under the governance of the city of Halle (Saale).

what else? The Class Card is stored electronically on an UmweltCard GOLD.
